Why Combine GL + ISM?

Global Liquidity alone doesn't predict tops or bottoms. GL stayed in an uptrend through both the March 2021 and November 2021 Bitcoin peaks. When GL finally peaked (Feb 2022), Bitcoin had already fallen 50%.

By combining GL direction (expanding/contracting) with ISM position (expansion/contraction), we can classify each month into a macro phase that has historically shown distinct return characteristics for Bitcoin.

Phase Legend (6-Month Momentum)

🔴Contraction
GL↓ ISM↓
No support, economy shrinking
🟠Stagflation
GL↑ ISM↓
BTC leads ISM recovery
🔵Expansion
GL↑ ISM↑
Full bull - liquidity + growth aligned
🟡Late Cycle
GL↓ ISM↑
Liquidity tightening into strength

How to Use This Table

Reading the Phases

  • Expansion (GL↑ ISM↑) = Full bull conditions, historically strongest returns
  • Stagflation (GL↑ ISM↓) = Early recovery, smart money accumulation zone
  • Late Cycle (GL↓ ISM↑) = Distribution phase, liquidity tightening
  • Contraction (GL↓ ISM↓) = Bear market, DCA opportunity

Key Patterns

  • Cycle bottoms occur in Contraction phases
  • Strongest rallies start in Stagflation (Fed pivot + weak economy)
  • Parabolic moves happen in Expansion
  • Late Cycle often precedes major corrections
